What is the Long Hollow School of Ministry?

The School of Ministry is designed for every believer—helping you grow in personal discipleship, sharpen your ministry skills, and, for some, prepare for future staff roles at our campuses. We believe the most effective training for life and ministry happens in the local church.

Who is the School of Ministry for?

The School of Ministry is for you! Whether you’re called to full-time ministry, marketplace leadership, or simply want to grow as a disciple of Jesus, this school is for any follower of Christ. Our mission is to equip and empower every believer to lead with purpose and serve with excellence. No prior experience or church membership is required, and anyone is welcome to take classes.

When and where do classes take place?

Classes are held on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at Long Hollow Hendersonville.

How long is each class?

Courses run in 8-10-week sessions, with each class meeting weekly for 50–70 minutes.

How much homework should I expect?

It varies by class, but you can expect anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours of homework per week for each class taken for credit.

I don’t have time for homework! Can I still take a class?

Yes! We offer the ability to audit any class with no assignments or exams required.

What does each class cost?

Each 8-10-week course is currently priced at $99.

Is there an attendance policy?

If you're taking a course for credit, no more than two classes may be missed. If you’re auditing a course, there is no attendance requirement.

Can I livestream a class or watch it on demand?

We’re working to provide on-demand options and expect to launch that feature soon.

Can I transfer credits to other Bible colleges or seminaries?

We’re actively building relationships with various institutions. Some of our courses are eligible for transfer credit on a case-by-case basis, depending on the school’s requirements.

What certificate programs do you offer?

We currently offer two certificates:

These can be earned at your own pace, with the fastest track being two years (four semesters), taking two classes at a time.

How do I enroll in a certificate program?

To begin a certificate program, submit an application. A brief interview process is required.

What are the requirements to complete a certificate program?

To complete a certificate, a student must submit an application, be accepted into the program, and complete and pass all required certificate courses. For the Ministry Leadership Certificate, students also participate in a ministry cohort, meeting monthly with a pastor on Long Hollow staff.

Do I have to pursue a certificate to take classes?

No certificate application or commitment is required to take classes.

If I take a class for credit and decide later to pursue a certificate, do I have to take the class again?

No. We keep a record of all students and the classes taken. If you took a class for credit, your previous class will count toward a certificate if you choose to pursue one later. If you only audit a class and later decide to pursue a certificate, the class will have to be repeated.

Is the School of Ministry accredited?

Not at this time, but we are exploring accreditation for the future.

Can I take classes and/or pursue a certificate if I’m not part of Long Hollow Church?

Yes! Membership or affiliation with Long Hollow Church is not a requirement to take classes or pursue a certificate with the Long Hollow School of Ministry. We’re honored to support God’s work and your spiritual growth and development regardless of your church home.
