The Powers Family Serving in Haiti

Michael and Kim Powers serve in the city of Jeremie, Haiti in the Grand’Anse department. Haiti is an island nation, sharing their island with the Dominican Republic, approximately 800 miles south of Florida. Most of Haiti is rugged and mountainous, however Jeremie has many lush, fertile areas and is known for producing agricultural products.

Through their ministry, Upstairs Foundation, the work Michael and Kim do in Haiti aims to provide holistic approaches to solving large challenges. They empower partners to create opportunities for individuals and communities, helping meet the felt needs of individuals. Through meeting needs, their prayer is to be able to share the Good News of Christ. They work through churches, a medical clinic, a school, and a children's village.

Please pray:

  • Peace for Haiti. The capital is currently under the control of gangs and there is an absence of an elected government.
  • Wisdom for the pastors and staff. May they earnestly seek the face of God.The children to be shielded from the stress caused by the events unfolding in their country.
  • Our school to have controlled growth. As individuals flee the capital, a significant number are choosing our school, drawn by the success we have consistently achieved.
  • Resources to keep pace with inflation and our growth. We urgently need 14 additional sponsors for children and five for pastors to meet the growing needs.
