Deacons, likewise, should be worthy of respect, not hypocritical, not drinking a lot of wine, not greedy for money, holding the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. They must also be tested first; if they prove blameless, then they can serve as deacons. Wives, too, must be worthy of respect, not slanderers, self-controlled, faithful in everything. Deacons are to be husbands of one wife, managing their children and their own households competently.
1 Timothy 3:8-12
At Long Hollow, deacons are men of outstanding character who are servant leaders, with qualifications guided by Paul’s outline in 1 Timothy 3. Deacons assist in loving the Long Hollow family well, and may be called upon to serve in a number of practical ways. Deacons are essential to Long Hollow Church and the way we care for one another.
Qualifications for a man to be nominated as a deacon include the servant leadership and character description above, and:
- Has been a member of Long Hollow Church for at least one year
- Currently participates in a Life Group and/or Discipleship Group
- Already active on a Serve Team
2026 deacon nominations will be accepted from August 31 - September 28, 2025. Nominations will be reviewed by Long Hollow Church pastoral staff and candidates will be contacted.
