Neighborhood Hangouts

Neighborhood HangoutsDisciplemaking is intentionally entering into someone’s life to help them know and follow Jesus (evangelism) and to teach them to obey His commands (discipleship).

Neighborhood Hangouts are a fun way that believers can enter their neighbor’s lives so they would come into a saving faith and enter the Discipleship Pathway.

Our strategy for engaging our local communities with the gospel is the Neighborhood Hangouts initiative. Our local neighborhoods are a mix of people from all around the world: people born and raised in Tennessee, people from every state, and people from the nations, and we can “make disciples of all nations” by locally sharing the gospel with our neighborhoods and people in our communities. Take a look at these two truths that Jesus gave us:

In Matthew 22:36 Jesus was approached by an expert in the law and was asked, “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” He answered with 2 simple commands. Jesus told us, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command. And the second is like it: love your neighbor as yourself.”

A neighborhood get togetherThe second truth came just before Jesus left to be with the Father; He gave us The Great Commission. Beginning in Matthew 28:19 Jesus says, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you.”

Long Hollow’s Neighborhood Hangouts are putting the Great Command and the Great Commission into unified action and connecting people from our community into the Discipleship Pathway. Our vision is to have Life Groups and Discipleship Groups in every neighborhood where a Long Hollow member lives; Neighborhood Hangouts are a great first step for you to begin “Gospel relationships” with your neighbors!

How amazing that God is using us to “make disciples of all nations” from our neighborhoods and communities!
