Greece can be located in southeast Europe. It is comprised of 150 inhabited islands in the Ionian, Aegean and Mediterranean Seas, constituting 20% of the land area. Within a population of over 11 million people, only 41,376 or 0.4% of the population identifies as evangelical Christians. The country is also home to an alarming number of refugees. In the city of Athens alone, there are an estimated one million refugees that call the area their home. While the government alongside nonprofits have tried their best to accommodate and help this group though the establishment of camps and distribution of resources, there is still the greatest void that can only be filled by the gospel.

In partnership with the IMB (International Mission Board), we encourage the work that is happening among the different people groups in Athens: Greeks, Iranians, Congolese, Pakistanis, and more. The missionaries and national partners (who are church planters and local pastors) seek to share the gospel, disciple believers, and plant churches within the city. This team will help further the advancement of the gospel by evangelizing in the mornings and afternoons. In the evenings, you will hold English classes in hopes of teaching refugees a useful skill and also building intentional gospel-centered relationships.
