In Tennessee, overdose deaths and suicides are up 65%-70% from 2018 where 5 people per day die from OD and 3 people per day die of suicide.
In Sumner County, someone overdoses every 36 hours.
Only three local rehabs out of dozens have been receiving over 10,000 calls every month in 2020 for people trying to get into treatment.
Join us August 26 to learn more about how you can support those who are struggling with addiction or mental illness. This Town Hall meeting will include panel discussions and breakouts sessions.
Panel Discussions will be moderated by the retired Channel 4 Sports Anchor of 43 years, Rudy Kalis.
The first panel discussion will be with Pastor Robby Gallaty, Pastor Tom Haddon (Northfield), and Pastor Derrick Jackson (First Baptist Winchester). They will explain how the church is not here to judge you but to love you. The church is here to walk with you through the hardship and help you get to the resources both within the church and in the community.
The second panel discussion will be from law enforcement with Chief Deputy Pickard, Judge Hunter, Judge Gay, and Brandon Clark.
The third panel discussion will be on mental health with Susan Phillips (Director of Cumberland Mental Health), Scarlet McGlasson, and Tracie Bryant (Sumner County Recovery Court and Mental Health Court administrator).
Breakout sessions will be with Bill & Patti Calus, who lost their son 14 months ago to overdose. They will discuss what they overlooked and what enabling might look like. Other breakouts will be on Celebrate Recovery, The Addicted Brain, The Red Flags of Addiction, and Suicide Prevention.
Each in person attendee will receive a free 12 panel drug screen test, a RX lock box for prescriptions, and lots of literature of local resources. For more information on this resource, contact Sumner County Anti-Drug Coalition.
