Cultural Immersion Day - Middle School and High School Student Cultural Experience
July 17-18, 2024
Signup Deadline
July 17th, 2024
For Who
Middle School and High School Students

Our students live in a world with vast cultural diversity at their fingertips. Whether it’s through the internet, school, or our own neighborhoods, students come in contact with the nations of the world on a regular basis. We want to help our students see God’s heart for the nations and understand how to respect other cultures while sharing the love of Jesus with everyone they meet.

On Wednesday, July 17 and Thursday, July 18, 2024, students have the opportunity to experience things and meet people from other cultures right here at home. We want to help them see and understand that many nations are represented right here in our own backyard, all people are made in God’s image, and everyone needs the love of Jesus. On Wednesday, students will receive training for our immersion experience. On Thursday, students will experience coffee at a Venezuelan coffee shop (tentative), visit a Hindu temple, have lunch at Edessa (Kurdish and Turkish cuisine), and visit the Islamic Center of Tennessee.

The cost for this cultural immersion experience is $35 and includes training, transportation (via personal vehicles driven by approved adult volunteers), and lunch.

On Wednesday, July 17, immediately following the Student Wednesday night service, we will meet for training for our immersion experience (approximately 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.). This training is required to attend on Thursday.

On Thursday, July 18, meet at the Student Building at 8:00 a.m. and return at 4:00 p.m. Dress in comfortable, modest attire, ready to try new things and meet new people.

Sign up now, because spots are limited.

Are you interested in volunteering to drive students for this event? We need you! All adults who work with Long Hollow Kids and Students are required to submit a leadership application, information for a background check, and undergo sexual abuse prevention training. Volunteers will also receive training for this event on Wednesday evening along with students.
