About David’s Illness

Original Letter to the Church

Dear Long Hollow Church Family,

We want to provide you with some information about Pastor David’s health. David has been diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer known as colorectal melanoma. The cancer is still in stage one and there is no evidence that it has spread at this point.

On Thursday, February 28, David had a colonoscopy after a previous exam revealed some abnormalities. The next day he had outpatient surgery to remove the spot that had concerned his doctor. Tests were ordered and on Tuesday, March 5, the results of a biopsy revealed the cancer. Additional tests were conducted the next day and the full extent of his condition was revealed at a consultation on Thursday, March 7. David is pursuing all available treatment options.

This news has certainly come as a shock to us all, but we can trust that David is in God’s hands as he’s always been. He believes what he preaches and has a strong faith. He wants us to be encouraged in our faith during this time as well. David expresses with the Psalmist: “I will praise the Lord at all times; His praise will always be on my lips” (Psalm 34:1).

David and Jennifer know you are eager to help and that you want to make sure that their needs are met. Their love for you will make it extremely difficult for them not to be able to respond to every note, but rest assured that they will receive each and every one of them. Right now the best gift you can give them is time to rest and prayers on their behalf.

Please pray for healing and comfort, and that he and his family will experience peace during this time. Also pray that God will reveal His purpose and plan for all of us during this trial. There will be several corporate prayer opportunities for David and his family in the near future. For updates and to send David a comment or post a prayer, please refer to the church’s main website (longhollow.com) and Facebook page (facebook.com/longhollow). If you would like to send a personal note of encouragement please send them to prayfordavid@longhollow.com or 3031 Long Hollow Pike, Hendersonville, TN, 37075.

May the God of all peace, grant you peace in Christ.

Sincerely,

Lance, Jeff, Jordan, and Derek
