Local Outreach

Long Hollow is committed to do whatever it takes to reach our city for the Gospel! Knowing that Christ first came to serve, we believe as imitators of Christ we are called to display His love through both word and deed. At its core, Local Outreach involves ordinary people, empowered by God’s spirit, who are obedient to God’s command to love and serve others. Whether you’re an individual, a family, or a small group, it’s as simple as showing up and allowing God to use you. Here are some ways you can get involved:

Rescue1 Global (Anti-Trafficking)

rescue1As the world’s fastest growing criminal industry, human trafficking is the illegal trade of human beings typically for the purposes of forced labor or commercial sex exploitation. Surprisingly to many, it occurs right here in Middle TN. With a mission of combating human trafficking by educating and mobilizing the local church – Long Hollow joins Rescue1 in the fight to set free those who are trapped in this industry. We do this by raising awareness through training opportunities and forming task force groups that minister to these individuals and families. Volunteers can join either our Monday, or Wednesday team that goes into the community to minister directly to those vulnerable of being trafficked. Other ways to get involved include donating food for the teams to prepare, cooking the food that will be delivered across the community, and praying for the teams and those they encounter each week.

Elevate (Homeless)

Each Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Long Hollow serves approximately 75 individuals who are in need of a hot meal. However, the need to build relationships and show the love of Christ to these men and women is more important. We have seen people come to know Christ who then begin to reach their friends with the Gospel. Volunteers are needed to participate in any of the following: help prepare and serve food, connect with the guests during their meal, sort through clothing, help clean up, and if willing, volunteers are always welcome to sing or share a brief testimony or word of encouragement.

Room in the Inn (Homeless)

roomFriday nights (November through March), we have an amazing opportunity to respond directly to the broken and disenfranchised within our city. Emphasizing the scriptural ideals of love and community through service to the homeless, male volunteers are able to spend an evening that involves transporting the homeless men to Long Hollow, enjoying dinner with them, doing their laundry, some light construction, and driving them back the following morning.

World Relief (Refugees)

WR_NASHVILLE_NASHVILLE_RGB_POS_HOR-300x72_1Did you know approximately 60,000 refugees come to the U.S. each year? These men and women are forced to leave their homeland due to persecution or fear of persecution because of their religious and/or political beliefs, race, or ethnicity. This presents a tremendous opportunity for our church to interact, learn from, and display Christ’s love to individuals from across the globe right here in Middle TN. Volunteers are needed to help these families as they rebuild their lives. There are several ways to get involved but a few opportunities include donating items for their apartment, commuting individuals to their appointments as they begin to obtain citizenship, and supporting them as they navigate workplace culture.

Madison Computer Learning Center

The Computer Learning Center provides computer training, job skills training, and financial counseling to the under-employed in the surrounding community. Through these classes, we seek to demonstrate the love of Christ as we build genuine relationships in an effort to provide participants the skills and abilities to improve their current situation for both themselves and their families. Volunteers are needed to teach and assist in basic computer application, resume building, the interview process, and financial budgeting.
